28 Years of Precision.
One Shop. One Standard.
406 Industries is the shop of James Stirling — a machinist, programmer, and inventor with nearly three decades of hands-on experience turning raw material into precision components.
Based in Bigfork, Montana, we specialize in CNC prototyping, multi-axis machining, and production support for clients in automotive, medical, firearms, and outdoor recreation industries.

The 406 Industries Story
James Stirling didn't start 406 Industries to build a factory. He started it because he understood something most shops don't: inventors and engineers need a partner who speaks their language, not a faceless platform that treats their project like a ticket number.
With 28 years behind the spindle and 25 years of CNC programming, James has machined parts for everything from medical devices and automotive turbo systems to firearms components and fishing reel assemblies. He's also an inventor himself — holding multiple patents and understanding firsthand what it takes to go from concept to production-ready part.
That dual perspective — machinist AND inventor — is what makes 406 Industries different. When you bring a prototype to James, he doesn't just make what the drawing says. He reviews it for manufacturability, suggests improvements that reduce cost without sacrificing function, and delivers a part that's ready for the next stage of your project.
406 Industries is built to scale. Whether you need a single prototype or a 1,000-piece production run, we have the capacity and the experience to deliver — backed by decades of running 30+ machine operations. No subcontracting, no outsourcing. Every part is made in-house to one standard of quality. When you work with 406, you get direct access to the engineering mind behind your parts, with the infrastructure to match any volume.
